It's not luck if you got skill. Wish I could be so lucky. I'm a hitman. I get a target, put a bullet in his skull, and walk away with a lump sum of cash. If only it were that simple.

It was an early December morning. Most people here in NYC are off to work. I walk along on the sidewalk, acting casual and smoking a Marlboro. Coffee in one hand, suitcase in the other, I make my way through the Brooklyn neighborhood. My coat may be thick but Jack Frost is still biting my nose. I make my way to an old, rundown office building. It was light enough for me to make my way to the stairs nearby, but still dark enough being this early in the morning. I make my way to the roof.

The air is even more brisk than 3 floors down. Opening my case, I take out my TAC-50, finish my latte and get into position. My target is a woman with some dirty business with my client. He cheated on his wife, and this chick seems to know about it. All I gotta do is kill her without causing too much commotion. Somebody about 10 blocks down was robbing a mini mart on Sheepshead Bay, so there weren't any cops nearby. I was ready.

The girl walks by; short hazel hair cut into a bob, tan skin and a black work dress. I don't want this to look like a murder seeing as there aren't many assassins in the area. She makes her way to the sidewalk across the street from me. I turn my attention to the electric wires. Those should cause enough shock to end her day. I set my aim at a wire. The woman drops her keys and bends over to reach them. I pull the trigger, and there goes the electric.

I didn't think about the fact the wire might miss. The rifle shot was also louder than I thought it'd be. The woman was looking frantically around; she knew somebody was out to get her. She hadn't seen me yet, so I pack up my gear and try to get going. Soon as I stand up, we make eye contact. She saw me on the roof. Without thinking, I run towards the stairs, she lets out a scream, and I better run like hell.

It wouldn't be long before the cops came to my position, so I had to get out; and fast. If I could just hide out long enough and make it back to my house, I should be in the clear. People were starting to gather, they heard the shot, the scream, and the fact I screwed up the area's electricity. If I ran now, people would start catching on. Everybody was looking at the corner on the other side of the street; as in away from me. I take the opportunity to sneak into a man's driveway. I turn my jacket inside out, change for a hat in my pocket and hide my case under some trash bags. Leaving the alley, I blend into the crowd just fine. I could go back and get my gun later.

I wait for about a half hour or so. NYPD had the place tight with security in 10 minutes time. A couple of cops came to me asking what I heard. I just told them I lost my cable and heard a gun shoot outside. It took a little convincing, but the eventually went along with my story. Once the crowd cleared up bit-by-bit, I made my way back to they driveway to get my gun. I was almost in the clear. I search through the trash and find my case is missing.

"That can't be right," I told myself, "I could have sworn I left the damn thing here."

"Looking for something?" I hear a woman's voice. I turn around to see the woman I tried to fry. The hell was she doing here? "Next time if you try to kill someone, try not to leave you're own gun in their driveway."

This was her house? I don't think my luck can get any worse. Not until I say the police walk behind her. I turned around to find an exit. These bastards had me cornered; I had nowhere to run. The cops aim their pistols at me. I have no choice but to put my hands in the air.

"Well, shit."
This is to make up for my last story. This one is about a hitman getting arrested by his own target. How will he survive?
